Leena Rantala presented her doctoral project which studies among other things relationship between institutional education and new literacy practices.
Leena's research questions are:
- What kind of digital literacies children and adults are practicing and learning in educational settings?
- What kinds of digital literacies children and adults are practicing and learning in everyday life?
- What does it mean for them to be digitally literate or illiterate?
The framework includes digital literacies such as academic, cognitive, emansipatory, functional and romantic. It also covers fields of participation such as cultural, economic, educational, institutional, political and social. By the concept of 'Third Spaces' Leena means spaces for identity construction, meaning-making, and pedagogy too.
